Portfolio Manager & Wealth Advisor
David Clark is a Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor at RBC Dominion Securities, where he and his team function as an outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, professionals, and foundations. Drawing on a disciplined, institutional-grade investment framework, David designs and manages multi-asset portfolios that integrate the strength of RBC’s global resources with independent, best-in-class investment managers across public and private markets.
David’s approach combines strategic asset allocation, manager due diligence, and risk-managed portfolio construction – principles inspired by the world’s leading endowments and pension funds. His clients benefit from a sophisticated investment experience typically reserved for large institutions, delivered with the personalized attention of a boutique advisory relationship.
Complementing his investment expertise, David places a strong emphasis on comprehensive financial planning to help clients define, prioritize, and achieve their long-term goals. By understanding each client's full financial picture – including cash flow, tax strategy, estate considerations, and and future capital needs – he ensures that portfolio decisions are grounded in a clear and forward-looking plan. This integrated approach allows clients to navigate evolving market and life stages with confidence and clarity.
Before joining RBC Dominion Securities, David served as a Vice-President at a leading Canadian wealth management boutique, where he advised private clients and foundations for nearly a decade. Earlier in his career, he held progressively senior roles at RBC Global Asset Management and RBC Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management, developing deep insight into institutional portfolio management and capital markets strategy.
David holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation after studying Finance the Williams School of Business at Bishop’s University.
Beyond his professional practice, David is deeply involved in the community, serving as an Investment Committee member for the Anglican Foundation of Canada and as a Board Trustee for the Royal St. George’s College Foundation.
Away from the office, David enjoys skiing, golf, and travel, as well as cooking and spending time with his family. He values time outdoors with his three children and their family dog, and finds inspiration in architecture, design, and craftsmanship – pursuits that reflect his appreciation for precision an enduring quality.
